Overview
The Unistellar Equinox 2 is built around a 114mm mirror with a 450mm focal length at f/4, giving you a wide 34.2 by 45.6 arcminute field of view and a limiting magnitude of around 18.2. That means faint galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters are genuinely within reach, not just in theory but in practice, thanks to built-in live stacking that accumulates light in real time on your phone or tablet screen. Setup is fast. The motorized alt-az mount aligns itself automatically, and GoTo puts any of 5,000-plus objects in frame with a single tap.
There is no eyepiece, which is either a strength or a dealbreaker depending on how you like to observe. All viewing happens through the iOS or Android app over Wi-Fi, which makes group sessions and sharing straightforward. For those interested in contributing to real science, the Equinox 2 connects to NASA and SETI citizen science campaigns, including exoplanet transits and occultations.
RAW and FITS export support gives you usable data for post-processing. Battery life runs up to 11 hours, and 64GB of onboard storage keeps you from running out of space mid-session. At just under 9kg, the whole system is genuinely portable.

Good, easy to use but all of these ready-to-shoot & stack Astrophoto units are all quite pricey...I can only hope they'll drop as their popularity increases. I still waiting to see how the Unistellar stacks up against the soon to be released Celestron unit which is a close match
I was very excited because this would be my first foray into astronomy. For the price, I figured the telescope and technology would be intuitive and easy. Unfortunately, they have an app that doesn’t work. When the firmware doesn’t update, you have a brick. I am not able to even use the telescope to...
High quality and works great!! Easy to use too!
