Overview
The Celestron PowerSeeker 127EQ is a 127mm Newtonian reflector with a 1000mm focal length at f/7.9, giving it meaningful light-gathering ability for an entry-level scope. At this aperture, you can realistically expect clear views of lunar craters, Saturn's rings, Jupiter's cloud bands and moons, and deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula and star clusters. Mars will show a disc, though surface detail depends heavily on atmospheric conditions and how close the planet is to opposition.
The German equatorial mount is the standout feature at this price point. Unlike simpler alt-azimuth mounts, it lets you track objects with a single slow-motion adjustment as they move across the sky, which makes longer viewing sessions considerably more comfortable. That said, polar alignment takes some practice, and newcomers should expect a learning curve before the mount feels intuitive.
The included 20mm and 4mm eyepieces cover low and high magnification, and the 3x Barlow extends your options further, though the 4mm eyepiece at full power can produce soft images unless the seeing conditions are good. At under $185, this is a capable starter scope for someone genuinely committed to learning the sky.

Key Features
- 127mm aperture gathers enough light to reveal planetary detail, lunar craters, and bright deep-sky objects like nebulae and star clusters
- Equatorial mount allows single-axis tracking as objects drift across the sky, a meaningful advantage over basic alt-azimuth designs
- 1000mm focal length at f/7.9 is well suited to planetary and lunar observation, where higher magnification and contrast matter
- Two eyepieces plus a 3x Barlow lens provide six effective magnification options without additional cost
- Compact and lightweight at 5.9kg, making it practical to transport to darker observing sites away from city light pollution
- Includes free astronomy software to help beginners plan sessions and identify what they are seeing
- Backed by a 2-year warranty and US-based support, which matters when you are learning to collimate and maintain a reflector

This scope catches a lot of flack in the forums and here. Let me demystify some of the bad reviews. 1) Collimation This telescope can be collimated easily by eye, if you want to collimate with a laser, you'll have to remove the corrective lens in the focuser tube. If you love to tinker knock yoursel...
I think this telescope is really great for the price. The stand is kind of flimsy, but that is where they went skimpy. I haven't gotten the chance to view anything at night yet. I did set it up the other day and could see individual raindrops hanging on individual pine needles at the end of my drive...
三脚もしっかりしていて安定は良かった。まだ、月の観察のみですが土星を観察するのが楽しみです。この値段では大変安いと思います。
