Overview
The Tele Vue Delos 6mm sits at the high-magnification end of what most amateurs reach for when the seeing is steady and the planets are high. At 6mm, you are going to be pushing serious magnification on most telescopes, which means optical quality matters enormously. Tele Vue delivers that here with fully multi-coated lenses and blackened lens edges that keep internal scatter to a minimum, giving you the contrast you need to pick out planetary detail, split tight double stars, or resolve the cores of globular clusters.
What separates the Delos from many competitors in this focal length range is the combination of a 72-degree apparent field of view and a genuine 20mm of eye relief. Short focal length eyepieces often sacrifice one for the other, making them uncomfortable to use or giving you a tunnel-vision experience. The Delos avoids both problems. The 1.25-inch barrel with built-in filter threads adds practical flexibility for narrowband or planetary filters.
The price is significant, sitting well above budget alternatives. But for an observer who spends serious time at the eyepiece and wants a high-power option they will reach for consistently, the optical and ergonomic quality here justifies the investment.
Key Features
- 6mm focal length delivers high magnification suited for planetary detail, double stars, and globular cluster resolution on nights of good seeing
- 72-degree apparent field of view is unusually wide for this focal length, reducing the tunnel-vision effect common in short eyepieces
- 20mm eye relief allows comfortable viewing with or without eyeglasses during extended sessions
- Fully multi-coated optics maximize light transmission and contrast, which matters most when you are pushing high magnification
- Blackened lens edges reduce internal reflections, keeping the background sky dark and planetary detail crisp
- 1.25-inch barrel with filter threads makes it compatible with most telescopes and easy to pair with planetary or narrowband filters
- Build quality and optical consistency reflect Tele Vue's reputation, making this a long-term tool rather than an upgrade-prone purchase

Just got this yesterday. The views of Saturn last night were the best I've ever had in my 8 inch Newtonian. Cassini division the entire ring. I also own Radian, Nagler and a few Panoptic. The Delos is IMO clearly the winner.
Exceptional eyepiece! I use it with my 10.1" f/4.5 Coulter mirror refigured by Steve Swayze. Great contrast and sharpness across a wide field of view. Detail on Jupiter is amazing. Highly recommend this eyepiece for fast, high quality Newtonian optics.
Pros: Sturdy construction, great optics. Cons: High price, but in my opinion, worth it. This is the second Delos that I own, needed the 6mm for higher power. Using my F12 scope this 6mm gives me 300X.
