Overview
The 70mm f/7.1 refractor sits at a practical entry point for anyone serious about starting out in astronomy. Its 500mm focal length and 70mm aperture gather enough light to show you the Moon's craters in satisfying detail, the rings of Saturn, Jupiter's cloud bands and its four Galilean moons, and a handful of brighter deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula and the Pleiades. Do not expect pinpoint stars across a wide field or views of faint galaxies, since the aperture has real limits in that department.
The included 25mm eyepiece gives you a workable 20x magnification for wider views, while the 10mm bumps that to 50x for planetary detail. Add the 3x Barlow lens and you can push to 150x, though atmospheric conditions will often be the limiting factor before the optics are. The 5x24 finderscope is modest but functional for locating brighter targets.
At 2.45kg, the scope and its aluminum tripod are genuinely portable. The phone adapter is a useful addition for lunar photography, though planetary astrophotography will remain limited at this level. For a first telescope under $65, it offers honest value for a beginner willing to learn the basics.

Great telescope for the price. I bought it for my son and it’s pretty easy to set up and take down, has a nice storage bag. Pretty stable as long as it’s on a hard surface. He wanted it to look at the moon and it definitely does a good job at that, if you’re wanting to look at other planets and such...
The media could not be loaded. The Hexeum 70mm/500mm telescope is a solid choice for beginners interested in astronomy and nature. Assembly was fairly simple, though the instructions could be more detailed. I've used it a few times now for stargazing and observing the moon, and the lunar views are i...
