Overview
The Astromania Super Plossl 56mm is a 2-inch eyepiece designed for wide-field, low-magnification observing, making it a solid choice for scanning star fields, catching large nebulae, or framing open clusters in full. At 56mm focal length, it delivers your lowest practical magnification on almost any telescope, which is often exactly what you want when you first point at a target or when you want to take in sweeping Milky Way views. The 52-degree apparent field of view is decent for a Plossl-style design, though observers used to wider apparent fields from premium eyepieces will notice the difference.
Fully multi-coated optics help maintain contrast and reduce reflections, which matters more at low power than people often expect. Blackened lens edges and treated internal surfaces are practical touches that cut down on stray light, keeping backgrounds dark. At around $64, this eyepiece sits in a competitive budget tier.
It will not replace a high-end wide-field eyepiece, but for observers building a starter kit or adding a dedicated low-power option to an existing collection, it punches reasonably well for the price. Works with any standard 2-inch focuser and accepts 2-inch filters directly.

I have been quite impressed with the eyepieces in this lineup. I've seen what appear to be the same eyepieces sold under several different brands, and all of them appear to be very high quality. This is the first one I've purchased through Amazon, so I thought I'd go ahead and share my impressions. ...
Really nice quality eyepiece from Astromania! I purchased the 6mm Plossl and it gives me a beautifully sharp image in my telescope. Apparent field of view (AFOV) is surprisingly good and stars are pinpoint in the entire field with no stray reflections. Only minor nitpick is because it's a high power...
Well made. In daytime with an f/4.7 apochromatic telescope this eyepiece is like a panoramic window. At night, stars are sharp, there is perhaps a barely visible distortion at the edges but truly minor. Frankly my eyeglasses cause more distortion than this eyepiece. I didn't notice reflections even ...
