Overview
The Celestron X-Cel LX 9mm is a solid mid-range eyepiece aimed at observers who want reliable planetary and lunar performance without stepping into premium territory. At 9mm, it delivers a useful magnification in most mid-range to longer focal length telescopes, making it a practical choice for splitting double stars, studying lunar craters, or tracking detail on Jupiter and Saturn. The six-element optical design with fully multi-coated glass produces images that are genuinely sharp and contrasty. Blacked lens edges help cut down on internal scatter, which matters when you are trying to pick out subtle planetary detail.
The 60-degree apparent field of view is not the widest available at this price, but it gives you enough sky to comfortably follow an object without constant nudging. One standout feature is the 16mm of eye relief, which is generous for a 9mm focal length. Eyeglass wearers will appreciate this, and the twist-up rubber eyeguard makes it easy to find the right position quickly. The parfocal design across the X-Cel LX series is a genuine practical benefit, letting you swap eyepieces without hunting for focus each time.
The threaded barrel also accepts standard 1.25" filters. Overall, this is a well-rounded eyepiece that earns its rating.

Ever since I tried one of these eye pieces, I wanted to get one to test it on my new dobsonian telescope. This thing does not dissapoint. I have used better and worse for sure, but x-cel lx is by FAR the most bang for your money. The eye relief is incredible, very comfortable. Compared to a plossl e...
This lens is amazing! Totally worth it! I have the Nexstar 4SE and it came with a 25mm lens. You could see a lot- ring of saturn, moons of jupiter, but everything was the size of a pin head. I looked at the moon last night with this lens and couldn't believe how much more detail you can see! Craters...
Darn fine eyepieces. Would need to spend about $100 more to get a better eyepiece. Celestron makes a good X-Cel LX array of eyepieces.
