Overview
The Telescope150EQ is a 150mm aperture reflector mounted on an equatorial (EQ) mount, a meaningful step up from basic alt-azimuth designs typically found at this price point. The 150mm aperture gathers enough light to show real detail on the Moon, the cloud bands and moons of Jupiter, Saturn's rings, and the brighter deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula and open clusters. The claimed 160x maximum magnification is achievable, though atmospheric conditions will often be the limiting factor, not the optics.
What sets this apart from entry-level telescopes is the equatorial mount, which aligns with Earth's rotational axis and allows you to track objects with a single smooth adjustment rather than constantly correcting in two directions. This makes extended viewing sessions noticeably less frustrating, especially at higher magnifications. At 12kg, this is not a grab-and-go instrument.
Setup takes patience, and polar alignment requires some learning upfront. The included finder scope helps with locating targets, and the moon filter is a genuinely useful addition for reducing glare on bright lunar views. With 32 Amazon reviews averaging 4.0 out of 5, early feedback is cautiously positive for a telescope in its class.

Key Features
- 150mm aperture provides enough light-gathering power for detailed planetary and lunar viewing, as well as brighter deep-sky objects
- Equatorial mount allows single-axis tracking, making it easier to follow objects across the sky compared to alt-azimuth designs
- Up to 160x magnification is usable in steady atmospheric conditions, suitable for planetary detail and crater inspection
- Included moon filter reduces glare during lunar observation, making high-magnification views more comfortable
- Carrying bag and stable tripod support transport to dark-sky sites, though the 12kg total weight means this suits car travel better than hiking
- Finder scope aids in locating targets before centering them in the main eyepiece, a practical tool for beginners
- Priced at $279.99, it offers equatorial mount functionality that is uncommon at this budget level

We are total newbies at this, but the telescope was easy to assemble and by the 2nd time we took it out we were looking at Jupiter and its 4 moons. Very cool! We have a lot more to learn about how to use it properly but so far it’s been a blast.
Poorly constructed, viewfinder assembly misaligned from factory. Phone dock Does not work well with iPhone 16 or any phone with multiple camera lense
It’s taking some getting used to but it’s not a bad purchase.
