The Tele Vue Ethos 8mm is one of the most respected high-power eyepieces available to amateur astronomers, and for good reason. Its 100-degree apparent field of view at 8mm focal length is a genuinely rare combination, giving you both magnification and immersion that few eyepieces can match. When you point this at Jupiter, the Great Red Spot and cloud band detail snap into view with a sharpness that holds edge to edge across that enormous field. On the Moon, crater walls and rilles reveal texture that feels almost three-dimensional.
The 15mm of eye relief makes extended observing sessions comfortable, and eyeglass wearers will appreciate not having to choose between their prescription and a quality view. This is a superb eyepiece! Optically close to perfect, this eyepiece shares much in common with it's 6mm sibling. This line of eyepieces allows you to similarly frame a DSO like a cluster or a galaxy at 2X the magnification that you'd get using a Plossl i.e. to frame a DSO the same way with a Plossl...
One of the best mid focal length mass produced eyepieces ever made (another one is TeleVue Ethos 13 mm). Totally worth money spent.
well I bought these pieces, I actually bought this one and the 13mm Ethos. I read the reviews and all the hoopla. But I didn't see it. These eyepieces are not any better than the ones I was using before I bought these. In fact I prefer the ones I had before I bought these. Only thing now is I'm $110...
