Overview

The SVBONY 68-degree 20mm eyepiece is a solid entry-level wide-field option for 1.25-inch telescopes. At 20mm focal length, it delivers low magnification, which is exactly what you want when sweeping for nebulae, open clusters, or large deep-sky objects that benefit from a broader field of view. The 68-degree apparent field is genuinely wide for this price range, giving you an immersive view that narrower budget eyepieces simply cannot match.

Fully multi-coated optics help squeeze out contrast and light transmission, which matters most when you are chasing faint extended objects under less than perfect skies. The internally blackened barrel reduces stray light scatter, a detail that cheaper eyepieces sometimes skip. The fold-down rubber eyecup accommodates eyeglass wearers reasonably well, though those with significant astigmatism may still want to experiment with eye relief positioning.

The standard M26.5 filter thread means you can attach a light pollution or narrowband filter directly, which is a practical bonus. At just over thirty dollars, this eyepiece competes well against similarly priced options and draws strong user ratings across hundreds of reviews. It is not a premium eyepiece, but for visual wide-field observing it punches above its weight.

Key Features

  • 68-degree apparent field of view provides noticeably wider, more immersive views than typical budget eyepieces
  • Fully multi-coated optics improve contrast and light throughput for faint nebulae and star clusters

  • Fold-down rubber eyecup offers practical accommodation for observers who wear glasses
  • Standard M26.5x0.6 filter thread accepts 1.25-inch filters without adapters
  • Low magnification at 20mm makes it a strong first choice for finding objects and framing large targets
  • Aluminum housing with black anodizing is durable and keeps weight manageable at the eyepiece end

Good value and quite good optically.

Excellent telescope eye piece with a nice "wide" view and "just enough" eye relief. 15mm which is a good middle range.

Good eyepiece for the price

Good eye relief, good field of view, and clear. I like it.

20mm had spec in corner of vision. Great pieces.

The media could not be loaded. (Update and update below) clear skies, looking through alot of atmosphere though... Got some nice views of Saturn at 3-5am. Used a 6" virtuoso gti 150p in manual mode. I have a DiY light shroud because of my typical light pollution around bortle 7ish. Lots of stray lig...
