Overview
The Sky-Watcher FlexTube 200P GoTo pairs a 203mm (8-inch) parabolic mirror with a motorized GoTo system, which is a combination that opens up serious deep-sky observing without requiring you to master star-hopping first. The 1200mm focal length gives you an f/5.9 working ratio, well suited for nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters, while the fully multi-coated mirrors with 94% reflectivity help pull in as much light as possible. The collapsible strut design is the standout practical feature here.
It reduces the assembled tube length for transport while reportedly maintaining collimation, which is a real convenience for observers who drive to dark sites. Once set up, the SynScan controller and built-in WiFi let you locate and track over 42,000 objects using either the hand controller or a smartphone app. At just under 25kg, portability is manageable but not effortless, and the GoTo Dobsonian mount requires a careful alignment process to perform well.
The included accessories, two wide-angle eyepieces and a 9x50 finder scope, are genuinely useful starting points. At $1299, this sits at a competitive price for motorized Dobsonian performance, though the 3.8 Amazon rating suggests some buyers have encountered setup or software frustrations worth researching before purchasing.

Yes, it is big, yes it is awesome. Now for all you fans, something I did not know. Upon opening the box, the first piece of paper slipped out and indicated , "by the way your Sky-Watcher has built in Wi-Fi." I did not know they had started doing this. I almost bought the Wi-Fi dongle with the scope....
I had been thinking of upgrading to this scope for a year before I did it, and I wish I could get that time back and just buy the thing already! NO regrets! Previously I had a 4.5" manual dob; it was a great starter scope. What I love about this one: 1) The tracking! It's great to be able to keep ob...
The box arrived damaged with a hole and scratches. The secondary mirror adjustment screws and center screw were seized and could not be loosened, making the telescope impossible to collimate. The back of the secondary mirror was dented, raising concerns that the product was not new. I had to disasse...
