Overview

The CPC Deluxe 1100 HD is Celestron's most capable altazimuth telescope system, pairing an 11-inch EdgeHD optical tube with a motorized dual fork arm mount. The EdgeHD design corrects for field curvature, producing flat, aberration-free images across the entire field of view, which matters both for visual observing and imaging. StarBright XLT coatings on all optical surfaces improve light transmission, so you're getting as much of that 11-inch aperture as possible when hunting deep-sky objects or resolving planetary detail.

The GoTo system can locate and track over 40,000 objects automatically, which makes this a practical choice for observers who want to spend time looking rather than star-hopping. For astrophotography, the mount supports All-Star Polar Alignment and Permanent Periodic Error Correction when paired with the optional HD Pro Wedge, converting it from an altazimuth to a polar-aligned setup capable of longer exposures without field rotation. At 19.5 kg and $5,499, this is a substantial investment in both money and portability.

The carrying handles help, but this is not a grab-and-go scope. It rewards observers with a dedicated setup space and a commitment to learning the system.

Before I purchased this model and brand, I painstakingly researched reviews and opinions from buyers and amateur astronomers for months. Since this was my first ...
