Overview
The Celestron Advanced VX 6" SCT pairs a 150mm aperture Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube with the Advanced VX equatorial mount, making it a reasonable entry point for astronomers who want to move beyond casual stargazing into more serious observing or beginner astrophotography. The 1500mm focal length gives you a long reach for planetary detail and tight double stars, though that same focal length makes it less forgiving when tracking errors creep in, so polar alignment matters here. The Advanced VX mount includes periodic error correction and motors with solid torque, which helps during longer imaging sessions.
The All-Star Polar Alignment feature simplifies setup considerably if you lack a clear view of Polaris. NexStar+ computerized GoTo lets you locate objects quickly once alignment is complete. StarBright XLT coatings on the optics improve light transmission meaningfully compared to standard coatings, and you will notice this when observing dimmer deep-sky objects.
The included 20mm eyepiece and 6x30 finderscope are functional starting points, but most users will want to upgrade both eventually. At 34kg total, this is not a grab-and-go setup. Expect a 20 to 30 minute setup time, and plan accordingly for observing sessions.

I purchased the Advanced VX mount with 6” SCT after owning a Celestron Nexstar SLT 90 for a year. I found myself using the SLT 90 all the time and even used the mount to learn how to do astrophotography. I was basically getting limited by my beginner telescope and I decided to go to the next level a...
Should come with software to operate mount.
Awesome!? I originally got the 76LCM and was a little disappointed. This on the other hand.. Just fantastic. The tripod is solid.. with the center plate in place its rock solid. The Mount is hardy too. No play in it at all when properly installed. The addition of the Clutch system is really nice as ...
