Overview
The Celestron Advanced VX 11" Schmidt-Cassegrain is a serious instrument aimed at amateur astronomers who want meaningful aperture without committing to a full observatory setup. The 11-inch primary mirror and 2800mm focal length at f/10 give you genuine light-gathering power, pulling in 41% more light than a 9.25-inch scope. That translates to faint galaxies, nebulae with visible structure, and planetary detail that smaller instruments simply cannot reach.
The Advanced VX German equatorial mount handles GoTo alignment and tracking, which matters when you are imaging or spending long sessions at the eyepiece. Permanently programmable Periodic Error Correction helps smooth out recurring tracking errors from the worm gear, a practical advantage for anyone pushing toward astrophotography. StarBright XLT coatings across the optical path improve light transmission and reduce internal reflections, keeping the image as bright and contrasty as the optics allow.
Be realistic about the setup, though. At 56 kilograms total, this is not a grab-and-go system. You will need a dedicated observing spot or serious commitment to hauling it out. The 3.9-star Amazon rating from a small review pool also suggests checking community forums for current user experiences before purchasing.

I received my package way ahead of schedule, without requesting an upgrade to the standard shipping. The instructions for setting up the mount an the scope were very simple, I didn't have to scratch my head once during assembly. The overall time to assembly the unit was about 45 minutes give or take...
Awesome scope!
This is an awesome setup, especially for the price. Would I recommend this for imaging? I'm no expert on that but I'd say for basic imaging and shorter term exposures, absolutely. Especially at lower magnifications. There is a little vibration when focusing at high magnification. It settles quickly,...
