Overview
The Baader Morpheus 6.5mm sits at the higher end of the eyepiece market, and it earns that position through optical quality rather than marketing claims. The 76-degree apparent field of view genuinely delivers an immersive experience when sweeping through star clusters or scanning nebulae, giving you more sky than standard wide-angle designs without the edge distortion that plagues cheaper alternatives. At 6.5mm, this eyepiece produces higher magnifications, which makes it well suited for resolving lunar craters, splitting double stars, and examining planetary detail.
The 18.5mm eye relief is a practical advantage here, since high-magnification sessions require you to hold your eye position steady, and the extra relief reduces fatigue considerably. Eyeglass wearers will find the full field accessible without pressing against the lens. Build quality is notably solid. The watertight housing, rubber grip, and Phantom Group coatings reflect Baader's attention to long-term durability and contrast.
The optical design of 8 lenses in 5 groups keeps aberrations low across the full field, which matters at these magnifications. Before purchasing, verify your telescope's focal ratio is compatible, as very fast scopes below f/4 may show some coma at the field edges.

I bought the 17.5mm Baader Planetarium Morpheus to replace a 17mm Televue Nagler Series 4 that was lost in a move of my household. Prior to this, I purchased a set of Meade and Orion Plossls and, later, a set of Baader Plateriam Hyperions, so I can compare the Morpheus with a 18mm Meade 4000 series ...
Eyepiece provides awesome view of objects. Long eye-relief is great. excellent mid-range magnification with a good price range. Comes with everything one might need for either viewing or projection astro-photography.
I installed this lens in my Kowa 883 sporrting scope using the astro-adapter from Kowa. This gave me a magnification of about 125X. Looking at the landscape of the full Moon is breathtaking. I also used it to get a final glimpse of the recent comet. Using it on land is iffy because of atmospheric co...
