Overview
The Baader Hyperion 8mm is a well-regarded short-focal-length eyepiece aimed at observers who want detailed views of planets, the Moon, and tighter deep-sky objects. At 8mm, it delivers high magnification when paired with most telescopes, making it a solid choice for resolving lunar craters, Saturn's rings, and Jupiter's cloud bands. The 68-degree apparent field of view is wide enough to keep things interesting without pushing into territory where edge sharpness typically suffers.
Fully multi-coated optics help maximize contrast and light transmission, which matters when you are trying to tease out fine planetary detail. The 20mm of eye relief is genuinely useful, particularly for eyeglass wearers who often struggle with shorter focal length eyepieces. One standout characteristic is the modular design.
The eyepiece can be disassembled to work as a projection lens for astrophotography or paired with Baader's own Barlow adapters, giving it more versatility than a standard fixed eyepiece. At $196, this sits in the mid-to-upper range for 1.25-inch eyepieces. It is worth the investment if you plan to use it regularly, but casual observers may find comparable performance at lower prices.

Good product fast delivery
I purchased this eyepiece after deciding I needed a closer look at bright Jupiter in its current perihelion. After some research on planetary viewing, the orthoscopic rose to the top of the list. This was my choice and I'm sticking to it.
Very nice eyepiece one of my favorites!!!
