Overview
The Astromania Planetary 7mm is a short-focal-length eyepiece designed primarily for high-magnification planetary work, though its optical design also makes it serviceable for brighter deep-sky targets. The standout feature is the 82-degree apparent field of view, which is unusually wide for a 7mm eyepiece and gives you a noticeably more immersive view than standard eyepieces in this focal length range. At 7mm, you will be pushing magnification on most telescopes, so seeing conditions matter, but when the atmosphere cooperates, this eyepiece can deliver tight, contrasty views of planetary detail.
The fully multi-coated optics help maximize light transmission and reduce glare, which is important at these magnifications where contrast losses become more visible. The nitrogen-filled, waterproof housing is a practical touch that amateur astronomers often overlook until they need it, protecting the internals from fogging and moisture during cool evening sessions. With 27 Amazon reviews averaging 4.6 out of 5, user feedback is limited but generally positive.
At $130.99, it sits in a competitive middle ground, offering wide-field planetary capability at a price below premium brands. Beginners and intermediate observers looking to upgrade from basic kit eyepieces should find real improvement here.

The eyepiece arrived quickly from Amazon. It appears EXACTLY as photographed in the Amazon placements, so I did not bother attaching any additional photos. The add says the eye opening is 22mm. Yep. Its a bit larger than 3/4" (around 13/16"). Also, yes its heavy as indicated! It feels firmly constru...
The size and weight of this eyepiece is impressive. It works great with no need for more counterbalancing with an 8" and 12 " Dobsonian. You will need to rebalance any telescope with a 2" apature on an Equatorial mount. It's worth it because the views are very impressive. With large deep sky objects...
Very good eyepiece of a remake. Visibility and clarity comparable to E.S. views. The only knock so far is the eyecup is too thick and stiff which make it useless for me and must be rolled down to get full views. Hopefully the eyecup can be replaced with a thinner one. I wouldn't let that keep me for...
