Astromania Focal Reducer f/6.3
Transform your SCT into a faster, wider instrument without buying a second telescope
Performance Scores
Overview
If you own a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, you already know the tradeoff: that long focal length is great for planetary detail, but it makes deep-sky imaging slow and the field of view narrow. The Astromania f/6.3 Focal Reducer addresses that directly. By shortening your effective focal length by 37%, it converts a standard f/10 SCT into an f/6.3 system, which means faster exposure times for imaging and a noticeably wider view at the eyepiece.
The four-element, fully multi-coated optics with a 41mm clear aperture do a solid job minimizing chromatic aberration, which matters when you are trying to capture faint nebulae or galaxies. It threads directly onto standard SCT rear ports, fitting Celestron models from 5 inches up to 14 inches, including NexStar SE, Evolution, and EdgeHD series. At $79.97, this is a genuinely useful accessory rather than a luxury upgrade.
One honest note: results can vary slightly depending on your imaging sensor size, and users with larger chips may notice some edge softness. For visual observers and those using smaller camera sensors, performance is consistently strong. The CNC-machined aluminum build and included storage case suggest it will hold up well over time.

Works great. If you use your scope visually, this is much cheaper and you would be able to realistically tell the difference from Celestron’s own. But you save a pocket full of bills. Even with an Astrophotography setup this works great. C6+ZWO ASIAIR+585 camera give great wider angle and faster pho...
Good quality focal reducer. Cheaper than Celestrons own brand. Works well on Celestron Nexstar 8se. Great for wider field of view. Especially good for Astrophotography of DSO'S
I was looking for a focal reducer for my EdgeHD 8 that wold give me a wider view than the Celestron f/7 reducer. This focal reducer works well and is inexpensive. It works well for my uses and I'm very happy with it!
