Overview

The Astromania 66-degree 15mm eyepiece is a rebranded version of the widely respected "Gold Line" eyepiece, a design that has earned a strong reputation among amateur astronomers for punching well above its price class. At 15mm focal length, this eyepiece sits in a versatile sweet spot, useful for scanning star clusters, framing the full lunar disk, and picking out larger deep-sky objects like nebulae and galaxies. The 66-degree apparent field of view gives you a noticeably more immersive view than standard Plossl eyepieces, which typically offer around 50 degrees.

The four-element optical design with full multi-coatings delivers solid contrast and color accuracy for the price. Blackened lens edges help reduce internal scatter, which matters when you are viewing bright objects like the Moon or Jupiter. Eye relief of 13mm is comfortable for most observers, and the fold-down rubber eyecup makes it usable for eyeglass wearers without much fuss.

At under $27, this is one of the more honest values in entry-level eyepieces. It will not outperform premium options from brands like Explore Scientific or Pentax, but for beginners or as a backup eyepiece, it is a genuinely capable performer.

Expansive, Wide Field Views

Astromania sells a complete line of telescope accessories. All are accurately described and fairly priced. I love the 20mm, wide angle eyepiece. You get an expansive field of view and sharp image to the edge of the field of view.
